REUNION GLUTTONY

Chinese New Year holiday is a good time to rekindle both, old and new friendships alike. It is very good to get together with friends but, very bad for the waistlines.

When I mentioned that Chinese New Year, is just a time to eat, eat and eat.. I mean it. I had three reunion meals last week alone.

New Ocean Restaurant, Jalan Imbi, Kuala Lumpur

The Gluttons: Ex-colleagues - Wang Loi, YCF, Ms Tambi and self (4 out of 7 of the seven spinsters)
Costs: RM80.50

Lai Poh Yeen Restaurant, Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur

Restoran Kin Kin, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Kuala Lumpur

Pan Mein with Ass Burning Chilli

Lunch: Dry Pan Mein with ass burning chilli
The Gluttons: Internet friends - James, Mae and Baby Jesse, Phoebe, Shine and Steven, WY, Kat, self, CK, Ms Lactose, Grace (CK’s cousin sister)
Costs: RM50++

I met most of my friends from the internet. This group lasted 8 years. There were about 15 of us previously. The highlight of the friendship was, we went to Port Dickson for a boozing trip in 1998. It was fun. Some already left the country to further studies or to work. Some went missing in action. Phoebe - sells tiles, Shine and bf (hotel line), Kat (Phd student - she is only 24 years old). Missing from the group was - two pilots and an event manager. We had a fellow national bowler too, who is now married with 2 kids.

It is cute to see the couple - it was James who took us to the pan mein - then Mae tagged along (not from internet - from mutual friends). Then they pak toh, then married and yesterday, they brought their baby Jesse to pan mein. So, we share a history in the pan mein stall.

Jesse, not only sleep at work, sleep during lunch too

Near Future Meals

Feb 12, lunch with ex TAR College mate in Seremban – YS who came back from Perth for the new year.
Feb 13, SERIOUS mini booze party in WY’s apartment – to celebrate my birthday. (Serious as in 3 bottles of red wine, one bottle of Chivas, one bottle of Absolut Vanilla, one bottle of Johnnie Walker, other bottles of whiskey, courtesy of WY’s dad – he is trying to finish all bottles of whiskey found in his collection, much to my delight)*
Feb 15, dinner with other ex colleagues – Yabba, Jess, Tan, Michelle, Emily, Ms Chai, Mun Yee, Sam (the stalker)
Feb 17, lunch with Sugar – she is giving me a birthday treat
Feb 19, mini Fei Chai Trip in Penang, with internet buddy of 7 years, Leo and wife, before they migrate to Hong Kong

I think I have to increase my gym session to twice per day instead of twice per week to burn the calories off. Nothing in this world comes free, not even calories. Hmmph.

* I have taken leave on 14 Feb to counter the comatose effect after the SERIOUS mini booze party.

Kin Kin pan mein? Is it any good. There is a really good pan mee stall in PJ old town. Costs 3.50 per bowl, but it’s out of this world. The chilli is hot enough to fry the tongue of an elephant.

dont want to sound like a wet blanket but is all this boozing good for your health? just hope you would drink less and still be your cheery old self. anyway, happy birthday in advance and may all your dreams come true this year my dear.

viewtru: It kinda deteriorated – the quality. Nevertheless, it still good enough to fry my ass. The chilli kicks ass.. I guess it is the chilli that dictates whether the pan mein is good or not.

Victoria: Naah. You are not a wet blanket. Thanks for your concern. I know it is bad.. so it will be my ONE LAST TIME… yes.. I said that before. This time is for real. Thanks for the bday wish. Appreciate it. *Muax*

vynie: Yeah.. guess I am too old to be sleeping in the longkang. LOL. Must cut it out!
