BALI PREVIEW

Sunset at Tanah Lot

Selamat siang, people..

I just got back from Bali today and I am very tired.

Apart suffering from sun burnt (consequences of not applying sun block even for a mere 2 hours), both our luggage bags were tampered with the moment we arrived at Denpasar (my bag was ransacked and WY’s lock was broken – thank goodness, nothing was missing) and lack of choice in local food (everywhere we go, we had chap chay!!), everything else was simply divine.

Oh yes, bad news. I suffered from a shut down when it comes to taking pics. I was kinda disappointed that I ran out of inspiration. Probably I was hypnotized by the soothing sounds of the gamelan that I totally lost my bearings; or probably you just need to be there to admire the beauty of the intricate designs of the ancient temples yourselves. Or maybe I was just too relaxed to do any thinking at all. The temples, albeit dilapidated by the passing centuries, still stood tall and grand. The scenery was simply breath taking.

I will write when time permits as I have lotsa things to catch up and loose ends to tie since my absence... wish me luck in my Nihon-go exam tomorrow!

Later.

Those scumbags (punt intended) handling bags at KLIA are getting more and more bold. They now blatantly cut locks and zips of luggages (they particularly target outgoing luggages), like it’s part of the way they breath. It’s amazing that this is happening every day and yet nothing is being done by the authorities.

Welcome back!

The luggage thing happened to me when I returned to NZ from Malaysia last year. Made a report to MAS, never heard back from them at all.
That day, when Francessca Peter’s bags got tempered with, she was so shocked and in the papers and everything, I was thinking “Please lah, this has been happening for so long liao, our reports are being ignored, this is in the newspaper just because you are a celebrity”

admit it, yr shutdown is mainly because of the many bronze bods with surfer boards doing their stunts…..hehehe. i know what u r thinking.

the tampered bag happens to me too, that’s why i always TRY not to check in however big my luggage is. Airfrance’s the best, they give u a plastic to pocket the whole backpack………

Welcome back and good luck on the exam!

I admire the Tanah Lot sea view the best! Took alot of pictures just on that spot. Trying to capture every single seconds of waves rushing to the shore. Simply magnificient!

fishtail: I agree with you. Those fuckers!! From Denpasar to KLIA, it was alright. I guess it is all a scam that they want you to use their “ta pao” service! They ransacked your bags so the next time you fly, you would ask for their plastic wrapping service. fuckers!

Toxic: It never happened to me – I had flown.. not many times.. this is the first. I was quite angry. But luckily they didn’t steal my underwear lah.. or else.. susah nak cari size kat Bali. Ha ha!

Jude: Please lah. I saw a few bronze bods at the airport itself. Wah.. those Japs are really cool and hunky.. yummy!! But most places I visited are temples.. not much of the sea, apart from Kuta Beach and Nusa Dua.

Stargazer: I took the fullboard package from Matta Fair last year. Got it dirt cheap. I fly by MAS. Stay tune on this page – I have more things to write.. probably you can pick up some tips from there.. or you can write to me, I would be more than happy to assist you.

VJ: After every trip, I never felt refreshed. Always tired. Physically – but mentally, I was sort of “renewed”. No prob. Will not leave anything out in the coming posts.

laymank: Thanks! I scored an A for my Nihon-go exams!!

Yes – Tanah Lot is my favorite too.. and also, not to miss – Uluwatu – the temple on the cliff. What a splendor!

i’m confusing? which part? barong v rangda, question 4 u: why must the demon always be a spooky long-haired woman?? tanah lot landscape, uluwatu temples, ubud art and craft, kintamani fresh air, kuta beach and buzz, monkeys, elephant god, babi guling…….how does one describe the bali experience?? maybe it’s the beautiful graceful women or the serenity u see in their faces, i don’t know. they may weep after the bombs but they smile again….it’s their karma u see. so spiritual, so bali.

Happy: Confusing here means.. you are toophilosophical for me to decipher. Rangda was a legendary queen. She was banished by her own son for killing her husband using black magic, for taking another wife… she was supposed to be a terrifying witch.. hence.. the spooky long haired woman.

Life still needs to go on I guess.. even after the bomb.
